Dolores June Lindsay Gribble Martin 86, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Clarksburg, WV passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

 

She was born at 214 Broadway Avenue in Clarksburg, WV, on November 2, 1931, a daughter of the late David Elliot and Gertrude Wood Lindsay, who were originally from Randolph County, WV.

 

Twice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E. Gribble on December 30, 1993, whom she married on October 8, 1966; and also her second husband, Dr. John D. Martin on December 30, 2014, whom she married on September 18, 2009.

 

Mrs. Martin is survived by two step-daughters;  Elizabeth (Betsie) Gribble Demarais (David) of Fargo, ND, Rebecca (Beckie) Gribble Drumheler( Charles) Charleston, WV; one niece Patricia (Patty) Lindsay Kinkade (Daniel) of Greensboro, NC; one nephew Robert (Bobby) Lindsay (Janie) of Richmond, VA; three Grandchildren,  Darik Demarais of Chicago, Illinois, Karaline Demarais Hummel (Jamie) of Shakopee, MN, William Edward ReBrook IV (Naphtali)  of Fairfax, VA; three great grandchildren: Rock Hummel and Jacek Hummel of Shakopee, MN,  Ravenna ReBrook of Fairfax, VA; a great Niece April Lindsay Daiga (Evan) of Mechanicsville, VA and Great Nephew  Robert Lindsay(Kristen) of Richmond, VA; and one Great Great  Nephew Tristan Glenn Daiga of Mechanicsville, VA.

 

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Louise Keller Miller, Robert Glenn Lindsay, Charles Frederick Lindsay and Charleen Ann Kinder.

 

Dolores was a 1949 honor graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School and a graduate of the West Virginia Business College.

 

She had two jobs in her lifetime: at age 16 (1947) she worked at McCroys Five and Dime Store until she was employed at Union Carbide in the early 1950’s. Mrs. Martin was an Administrative Assistant and retired from Union Carbide in 1992 with over 40 years of service.

 

In the late 1990’s, Mrs. Martin was appointed by Governor Cecil Underwood to the West Virginia Board of Dentistry. She served as a citizen member for several years.

 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg, and she attended the Broadway “Girls” luncheons as often as she could.

 

Mrs. Martin liked to support many different charities with Hospice being her favorite.

 

Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Hubbard Hospice House 1001 Curtis Price Way Charleston, WV 2531; or to the First United Methodist Church, 117 N. 2nd Street, Clarksburg, WV  26301.
