Edward Linwood Harrison, 68, died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his residence in Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Lost Creek, he was a son of the late Russell and Reba Harrison.

 

Ed greatly admired the service rendered by the Knights of Columbus and dedicated 28 years to its cause. He rose to become the Grand Knight of the Council at St. James in Conway, SC and Faithful Navigator of its 4th Degree Assembly. He was also especially fond of being the Coordinator for the Council’s dinners for over a decade and he shared that gift with St. James youth and adult education events. His love for children saw this gentle giant of a man play Santa Claus both in WV and SC for many years. He always embodied to the fullest what a Knight of Columbus should be. Ed worked for C & P Telephone/Bell Atlantic/Verizon for 30 years and retired as a Construction Supervisor in 2003. Ed served in the U. S. Army as a Military Policeman in Vietnam.

 

Ed is preceded in death by a son, Craig Harrison; a brother, James Harrison; a sister, Jo Odom; a sister-in-law, Patricia Lester; brothers-in-law, Wayne Buss and James Odom; and father-in-law, Vergil Lester.

 

Survivosr include wife, Virginia Harrison of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Delores Buss of Orlando, FL; a brother, Fielding (Sue) Harrison of Lake St. Louis, MO; a sister, Lyda (Paul) Lister of Nutter Fort; a brother, Duane (Darlene) Harrison of Splendora, TX; a mother-in-law, Ann Lester of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister-in-law, Suzanne (Bill) Bushnell of Harpswell, ME; a brother-in-law, James (Rose) Lester of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Delbert) Ray of Myrtle Beach, SC and Mari (Brian) Clovis of Orange Park, FL; a brother-n-law, Tim (Kim) of Conway, SC; and numerous Cousins, nephews, and nieces.

 

A memorial service was held at the St. James Catholic Church in Conway, SC on Thursday, July 6, 2017.

 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Catholic Church of St. James, 1071 Academy Drive, Conway, SC 29526, or the Knights of Columbus of the Catholic Church of St. James.
