Eugene Winfield “Gene” Lewis, 82, of Johnstown passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born in Johnstown, WV, on May 3, 1937, a son of the late Edgar Winfield and Erma Grace Defibaugh Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Wright Lewis, whom he married on September 8, 1967.

Also surviving are three daughters, Carla J. Lewis of Galloway, OH, Barbara R. Seti and her husband Michael of Lost Creek, and Susan Lewis Given and her husband Robert of Johnstown; his extended daughter, Tabatha Hunter of Galloway, OH; six grandchildren, Trey Hunter, Madison Seti, Lauren Seti, Emily Offutt, Lucas Given and Grace Given; one great grandson, Ezeekiel Offutt; one sister, Irene Fogg of Bridgeport, and Christine Dawson of Amhurst, VA; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite dog, Molly.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Lewis; and two sisters, Edith Cumberledge and Frankie Fogg.

Mr. Lewis was a 1955 graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School and a Communication Engineer with Bell Atlantic having retired in a Management position after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Johnston United Methodist Church, the Telephone Pioneers, and a former member of the Johnstown VFD. He enjoyed woodworking, antique cars, and singing with his family and friends.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020, at 12:00 pm with Chaplain Jerome Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Johnstown Cemetery.
