Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Mrs. Richards will be taken to the Upper Room Church, 320 S. 24th Street, Clarksburg (Adamston) to lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service which will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Michael Flanary officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Gail Colleen Richards, 77, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2018 at her home following an extended illness. She was born November 12, 1940, in Clarksburg.

 

She was the daughter of the late Ernest Ryan and Ada Mae Houge Harbert, both of Clarksburg. Gail is survived by her husband of 60 years, Junior Marion Richards and five children; Keith Richards and his wife Tammy of Clarksburg, Joel “JP” Richards and his wife Chris of Weston, Suzanne “Suzie” Robinson and her husband Kevin of San Antonio, TX, Joretta Hayhurst and her husband Dan Brown of Rapid River, MI and son-in-law Mark Hines of Weston as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers Joel Ryan of VA, and James “Jr.” Harbert Sr. and his wife Paula of Clarksburg. She also had many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, as well as several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Erin Colleen Hines and grandson Trey Hayhurst.

 

Gail worked as a bus aide for the Harrison County Board of Education and was a member of the Upper Room Church in Clarksburg. She was an active member in the church where she led and participated in various ministries. She was a 1958 graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School, in Nutter Fort, where she was Drum Majorette for the school band. She loved gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, Mamaw, great-Mamaw, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
