Obituaries

Gary Lee Ashcraft, age 73, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the United Hospital Center, following an extended illness.

He was born in Clarksburg, on January 12, 1946, a son of the late Percy C. and Pauline Knight Ashcraft.

Mr. Ashcraft is survived by two sons, Gary Allen Ashcraft and companion Jamie Glover of Eustis, FL, Curtis C. Ashcraft and his companion Robin Sutherland of Martinsburg, WV, his granddaughter, Ella Ashcraft, his grandson, John Wilson; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Percy Ashcraft and wife Cindy of Fredericksburg, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashcraft was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Dotson.

Gary graduated from Victory High School in 1964, Fairmont State University in 1968, and went on to earn his Master’s degree from West Virginia University. Gary served our country as a veteran in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War, and retired from the State of WV DMV as an inspector.

Per his request, he will be cremated.

A graveside service will be held in the WV National Cemetery at a time to be announced.
