Family and friends may call at the Freedom Baptist Church, 107 Illinois Avenue, Nutter Fort, 26301 on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of service which will be at 11:00 am with Pastor Jim Sanders officiating. Interment will be in the WV National Cemetery where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

Gary Lewis Broughton, 73, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Middletown, NY on December 26, 1944, a son of the late Ivan and Lois Mabee Broughton.

 

Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Sue Avis Broughton. He is survived by his second wife, Diane Roberta Blustein Broughton, whom he married on April 7, 1990; one son, Todd Avis Broughton of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Alli and Maddie Broughton; one brother, Ron Broughton and his wife Roberta of Rome, NY; one sister, Hollie Kennedy of East Greenbush, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Broughton was a disabled Vietnam veteran having served with the United States Army, and was employed with the Department of Disability Determination. He also served in the Prison Ministry at Pruntytown and in Ministry at River Oaks Nursing Home.

 

He was a southpaw baseball player and a fan of the NY Yankees, Tennessee Volunteers, WV Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Antonio Spurs and loved March Madness.
Mr. Broughton was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church
