Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. where a service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Dustin McCune officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Gary Wayne Broadwater, 77, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at his home, with family surrounding.
Gary was born in Clarksburg, WV, on March 20, 1947, a son of the late Charles Arnold and Zelma Inez Ross Broadwater.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Wilfong Broadwater, whom he married on August 29, 1969.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three daughters, Stephanie Workman (Ernest) of Richmond, VA, Leigh Ann Ritter (Michael) of Clarksburg, and Allison Smith (Eugene) of Lost Creek; five grandchildren, Jacob Workman of Charleston, SC, Nathan Workman of Richmond, VA, Jeremiah Ritter of Clarksburg, Madeline Ritter of Clarksburg, and Emma Smith of Lost Creek; sister, Marsha Shepherd (Michael) of Bridgeport; as well as two nieces, Meghan Flesher of Bridgeport and Mackenzie Shepherd of Bridgeport.
Gary was a graduate of Victory High School Class of 1965 where he played basketball and was selected for the Big Ten Basketball team his graduating year. He also played Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball and was on the team that won the state championship in 1962. After graduation he went on to attend Glenville State College and Salem College, where he graduated from in 1973. His favorite past time was coaching and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid fan of WVU Mountaineer football as well as the girl’s and boy’s basketball teams.
He was Branch Manager at Anderson Equipment for 15 years. He retired from Jefferds Corporation where he worked as a part’s manager for 15 years. After retirement he worked part time for Mountaineer Hydraulics.
The family of Mr. Broadwater would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Paul Brager, Dr. Jo Longenecker, Sheila Gregory, and WVU Hospice for their exceptional care.
