Services will be held on Friday, May 3, 12:00 p.m. at the Oak Mound Evangelical Congregational Church to celebrate Gloria’s life. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Gloria Clair McClung, 94, of Clarksburg was led peacefully home, with Jesus by her side, on April 29, 2019.

 

She was born Sept 23, 1924 in Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late Harvey Paul and Gladys Rhoades.  She was the widow of Charles Eugene McClung, Sr.

 

Gloria, an Anchor Hocking retiree, dedicated much of her life serving others. She graciously volunteered and led the Senior Citizens exercise programs for a decade. She inspired and motivated others to eat healthy and exercise throughout her life and would routinely transport and often assist others who were unable to get out. Since 1998 she has volunteered three days a week for the United Hospital Center, where she was celebrated by the hospital as their “Volunteer of the Year” and later selected as the WV State Volunteer of the Year.

 

Gloria was a life-long Christian and an active member of the Oak Mound Evangelical Congregational Church, 401 Oak Mound Rd for over 55 years. She loved her church and had the fire of the Lord in her heart.

 

She is survived by three children; “Chuck”, Charles Eugene McClung, Jr(Anna); Daniel McClung; Sharon McClung-Martz (Michael), and five grandchildren; Melissa Mitchell, Amanda McClung, Tracy Staples, Mark Miles, and Michelle Linton. One granddaughter, Lisa Mendez, preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her four siblings; Harvey “Paul” Rhoades, Conrad Rhoades, Louise Bonham, Jerry Smith.
