Obituaries

Guy John Brewer, 71, of Clarksburg, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Washington DC on February 12, 1946, the son of the late Robert Paul Carr, and Rose Mary Pratt Carr who survives in Bridgeport.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Terry Leigh Myers Brewer, whom he married on December 26, 1971 in Elkins, WV; four children, Dr. Jamie Leigh (Brewer) Miller of Fairmont, WV, Joshua Paul Brewer of Clarksburg, WV, Jessica Mae Brewer of Martinsburg, WV, and Theresa Lynn Carr of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Logan, Luke and Lydia Miller of Fairmont, WV, and Joshua James “J.J.” and Kayleigh Brewer of Clarksburg, WV; son-in-law, Dr. Thomas (Bradley) Miller of Fairmont, WV, and daughter-in-law, Leigh Ann Leemasters Brewer of Clarksburg, WV.

Mr. Brewer Attended Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, WV, along with Fairmont State College and West Virginia University.

He served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard with the 1092^nd Combat Engineers in Salem, WV, and the 119^th Floating Bridge Engineers in Clarksburg, WV.

John was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church and Hermon Lodge No. 6, AF & AM., in which he served various officer positions, including Past Worshipful Master.

He owned and operated the American Service Station on Chestnut Street in Clarksburg for a time and also his own car repair business, Mountaineer Automotive Specialties. John also  worked as blacktop foreman for the City of Clarksburg, sold Goodyear and B. F. Goodrich tires commercially, and in later years taught computer classes to staff at the VA Hospital in Clarksburg, along with having his own neuro muscular therapy practice.

His hobbies included drag racing in his younger years (at which he was a champion), and NASCAR (for which he was a technical inspector). He also loved fishing, especially trout fishing in mountain streams.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:00 am with Lou Ortenzio officiating. Interment will be in the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to People’s Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
