Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Randall Hughes. Interment will follow in the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery.

Gwendolyn Marie “Gwen” Riffle, 62, of Lumberport, WV, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, peacefully at her residence following a brief illness.

 

She was born in Flemington, WV, on October 18, 1955, a daughter of the late Jim and Tavy Welch Brown.

 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Stanley Riffle, whom she married on July 4, 1975.

 

Also surviving are her daughter Melissa Riffle and fiancé Ryan LaBounty of Lumberport; her brothers and sisters, Robin Hall and husband Larry of Enterprise, Crystal Renneman and husband Chris of Parker, CO, Susan Campbell and husband Jeff of Fayetteville, Virgil Brown and wife Sandy of Flemington, and Jimmy Brown of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Austin Fortney of Shinnston, Justice Connolly, and Neal LaBounty; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Amanda Fortney and one brother, Bill Brown.

 

Gwen was Baptist by Faith. She loved painting, singing and cooking.  She devoted her whole life to her children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

Interment will follow in the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery.
