Helen “Babe” Parsons Powell, 83, of Stonewood, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at her residence.

She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on June 30, 1935, a daughter of the late John and Katherine Pruch Krivosky.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, George L. Powell, her primary caregiver, whom she married on October 30, 1970.

Also surviving are one son, Jim Parsons and wife Loria of Clarksburg; two daughters, Kathy Parsons of Bridgeport, and Tammy Grdgon and husband Eric of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Sheena Hawkins and Eric, Marisa Parsons, Katelin Grdgon and fiancé G.T. Lopez, and Brandon Grdgon; and eight great grandchildren, Logan Parsons, Isaiah Gabbert, Bryson Gabbert, Morgan Hawkins, Landon Hawkins, Sophia Grdgon, Anthony Corsini, and Gia Corsini.  She is also survived by one brother, Fred Krivosky and wife Lavonne of Stonewood; one sister, Florence “Pook” Krivosky of Clarksburg; brother-in-law, Robert Wagner of Stonewood, and sister-in-law, Betty Krivosky of Nutter Fort; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Frank and John Krivosky; and four sisters, Pauline Wagner, Rose Drgon, Margaret Bavlsik, and Marion Maxson.

Helen was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School Class of 1953. She worked for C & P Telephone Company and retired from Verizon with over 40 years of dedicated service in the business office.  She had many treasured friends and lasting memories from her years of working.

Helen enjoyed staying active and making the most of life. She was a faithful spectator and cheerleader at her family’s sporting events, made every holiday a special memory and tradition, beach vacations were a must, and she never missed a beat on the dance floor.  However, her greatest accomplishment was being a loving and caring wife, mother, mamaw, nan, and friend, always thinking of others first.  Her heart and her home were always full of love for her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Amedisys Hospice for their loving care, compassion, and grace. Also, a very special thank you to her dedicated and loving caregiver, Bridgette.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She touched many lives and was loved by all who met her.
