Henry Earl “Hank” Maxwell, 79, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on December 18, 2016, at the residence of his daughter in Bridgeport.

 

He was born in Taylor County, on April 21, 1937, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Maxwell and Bertha Burchy Maxwell. He was raised in Rosemont where he resided until moving to Bridgeport in 2013.

 

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marcilee W. Dodd Maxwell, whom he married on  March 11, 1959.

 

He is also survived by five children, Gregory Maxwell and wife Jeanie of Morgantown, Henry E. Maxwell, Jr. of Smith River, California, Melissa Wilfong of Bridgeport, WV, Teresa Whitehair and husband Larry of Rosemont, and Edward Maxwell and wife Lorri of Nutter Fort; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Barbara Maxwell of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tambra Ruth Flint; one sister, Mildred Maxwell, and two brothers, Paul Maxwell and Fred Maxwell.

 

Mr. Maxwell was a veteran in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a retired mechanic and carpenter. He formerly worked for State Road and various garages including Metal Products where he was a drill press operator.

 

He was an avid WVU Football and Basketball Fan. He enjoyed NASCAR, did a lot of dirt track racing in the 60’s, loved hunting and pitching horseshoes.

 

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Brian Plum presiding.

 

Interment will follow in the Rosemont I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
