Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Don Fowler officiating.   Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

Henry Jason Crane, 96, of Nutter Fort, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Minnie, WV on October 22, 1920, a son of the late William Franklin and Emma Elson Crane.

 

He was married to Pauline Evelyn Cunningham Crane on September 22, 1948, who preceded him in death on June 11, 2012.

 

Surviving are one son, Tom Crane and his wife Amy of Lost Creek; two sisters, Blanche Kocher of Reeder, and Maxine Chiles of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by one son, Ralph Crane; three brothers and three sisters.

 

Mr. Crane was a United States Marine Veteran having served during WWII.  He was a carpet layer and the owner of Crane’s Carpet Service, having retired on 1990 at the age of 70 after 42 years of service.  After retiring, Mr. Crane enjoyed making and repairing fishing poles, carpet surging, fur trading and also sold apples, ramps and walnuts, and even at the age of 95 he continued to go on his Canadian fishing trips.  Mr. Crane was Protestant by faith.
