Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.   The service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Stalnaker presiding.   Entombment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Hilda Ilene Gower Beamer, 83, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

 

She was born in Ellamore, WV, on April 30, 1934, a daughter of the late E. E. Gower, Sr. and Sally “Pearl” Summerfield Gower.

 

Her husband Gilbert L. Beamer whom she married on July 31, 1954, resides at their home in Bridgeport.

 

Mrs. Beamer is also survived by her daughters, Terri L. Cross and husband John of Mount Clare, and Andrea J. Bartlett and husband Terry D. of Flemington, WV; three grandchildren, Miranda N. Trader, Krista K. Bartlett, and Brandon G. Bartlett and fiancée Shaniah Holtz; a great grandson, Patrick D. Aucremann; her brother, Eugene “Gene” Gower, II and wife Barbara of Gassaway, WV; her sister, Juanita J. Moore of Bridgeport; as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own children.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Kenny Moore.

 

Hilda graduated from Washington Irving High School where she was a majorette and loved telling stories to her children and grandchildren about that time.

 

Her strong Christian faith was the foundation of her life and teaching her children and grandchildren about her love of her Savior Jesus Christ was her passion.  She attended the Bridgeport Free Methodist Church.  She loved her church and church family.  She was a member of the Bridgeport Woman’s Club, winning many blue ribbons for her beautiful needlework.

 

Nana as she was known by her grandchildren, family and friends; loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.  She loved cooking, sewing, crafts of any kind, gardening and especially baking cookies with all of her grandchildren starting as soon as they could stand beside her on a stool.  She also enjoyed listening to birds singing in the early morning.

 

The family wishes to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the heartfelt care from Chastity Sutton and Karen Lanham whom she called her angels, and to the Mary Babb Cancer Center which was a big part of her life for several years where she received compassion from the doctors and nurses who loved her dearly.
