Per his request, he was cremated.   Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery, at a time and date to be announced, with full military graveside honors accorded.

Irvin Lee “Andy” Anderson, 68, passed from this world on January 10, 2018.

 

He was born on April 24, 1949, in New Martinsville, WV, the son of late Andy C. Anderson, Jr.  and Pauline Reese Anderson.

 

Irvin was a survivor of two tours in the Vietnam War, having served as a unit leader of a reconnaissance team.  He was always proud of serving his country in the Army.

 

He is survived by one son, Irvin Lee “Andy” Anderson, II; two brothers, Sam Smith and Christopher Knapp; two sisters, Janet Warner and Nancy Anderson Houston; and brother-in-law, Brian Houston.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Jay Anderson.

 

Irvin grew up in Wetzel County and loved hunting, fishing and home cooked meals.  At the time of his death he was a resident of Shinnston.

 

Per his request, he was cremated.

 

Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery, at a time and date to be announced, with full military graveside honors accorded.

 

The family wishes to extend much gratitude to the Doctors and staff at the Veteran’s Hospital, United Hospital Center, especially Dr. Harvey, and the kind staff at River Oaks Nursing Home.
