Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of the service, which will be at 12:00 noon with Reverend Craig Swearingen officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Jack C. Talkington Sr., a long-time Colorado resident, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 peacefully at his home in Fountain, he was 82 years old.

 

He was born in Folsom, WV, February 25, 1935 to Robert P. Talkington and Carrie M. Price. He graduated from Smithfield High School in 1954.  Jack entered the U.S. Army in 1955.  He married Evelyn F. Darling, (also of Folsom) August 5, 1959.  They were married 57 years.

 

Jack is survived by his wife Evelyn and children: Terri of Ohio, Jack, Jr. of Maryland, Carrie and Jeffrey of Colorado.  They have 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  He is also survived by sisters Dolly Sands of New Martinsville, WV; Wanetta King of Loves Park, IL; brother William Talkington of Canton, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

 

He served 28 years in the U.S. Army in Germany, Vietnam, Korea and Thailand. He received several medals and honors during his career in the Corps of Engineers and retired in December 1987.  Jack was also an active member in his church and served as a Cub Scout leader on Ft. Carson for several years.
