A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Stonewood, WV, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with Father D. Kent Durig as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery where full military graveside rites will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard. James Francis Ferrella, 91, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully on January 3, 2017. He was born in Harrison County, West Virginia on May 20,1925.

 

James graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and served in the US Coast Guard and Navy during WWII stationed in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. He attended the University of Detroit, where he earned a BS in Accounting. James married Aralina DePolo and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage, raising three children. He moved his family from Detroit to Toledo, OH in 1970 to accept a promotion as CPA and tax executive with Sheller-Globe Corporation, retiring in 1995.

 

James loved reading the Wall Street Journal, music, making wine, walking in the park, telling jokes, and visiting with family and friends.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Aralina (DePolo), children Andre (Linda Morris), Thomas and Tressa (Carmine Cervi); grandchildren Maia (Paul) Schwartz, Zachary Reinhart-Ferrella and Cyra Henn-Ferrella; siblings Virginia (Frank) DeFazio, Mary Leonette; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Rosa (Gallo) and Salvatore Ferrella; sisters Katie Julian and Flora Guido, and brothers Yenna, Frank, John and Tony.
