Obituaries

James Homer Six, 81, of Sardis, WV passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born in Coburn, WV on January 10, 1936 a son of the late William E. Six and Ida Mae Greathouse Six.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Yvonne Mercandino Six whom he married on November 23, 1956 and resides at their home in Sardis. Also surviving are one son, John Alan Six of Sardis, WV; three daughters, Beverly Ann Plaugher and husband Scott of Clarksburg, WV, Missy Hardman and husband Stan of Sardis, WV and Darlene Gillespie and husband Sean of Clarksburg, WV, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one sister, Bess Stiles of Brave, PA and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Johnny Six, Jack Six, Charles Six and Sy Greathouse and one sister, Maxine Stoneking.

He was a glassworker for 37 years having worked at Brockway Glass, Anchor Hocking, Hazel Atlas and Continental Cann. He also was a former employee of E&H Millwork and Marsh Lumber. was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Sardis Baptist Church on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Frank Carson presiding. Mr. Six will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery.
