Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.   The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Amos Carvelli Funeral home with Pastor Robert Shingleton presiding.   Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Jon Jeffery “Jeff” Richards, 55, of Mt. Clare, WV, passed away on May 7, 2016, at his residence, following an extended illness.

 

He was born on April 6, 1961, a son of the late Ronald Lee Richards and Lula Rosalee Burton Richards of Mt. Clare. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Linda Grace Swiger Richards, whom he married on November 7, 1981, who resides at their residence. Jeff is also survived by two sons, Nathan Richards and wife Christine of Mt. Clare, Jon Ryan Richards and wife Lesa Ann of Clarksburg; one daughter, Jennifer Thompson and husband Matt of Mt. Clare; four grandchildren, Milo Richards, Anabel Richards, Esaias Richards and Rubi Thompson. Also surviving are two brothers, Donald Richards of Mt. Clare and Rodney Richards and wife Beverly of Fairmont; a special sister-in-law,  as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jon William Ryker Richards.

Jeff was a graduate of South Harrison High School Class of 1979 and was a CDL Truck Driver for FedEx Ground Delivery.

 

He was a member of Jewel City Church, Committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 16 in Quiet Dell, and a former member of the Mt. Clare Lions Club. He coached various area youth sports activities including T-ball, C-ball, Soccer and Softball; he volunteered services with many youth programs in various area churches.

 

He was an avid collector of superhero memorabilia; especially Spiderman. He truly believed “With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility.”
