  In keeping with his wishes, Joe will be cremated. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ryan Amstone presiding.

Joseph Lawrence Reed, 55, 0f Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 following an extended battle with prostate cancer.

 

He was born in Clarksburg on July 10, 1962, a son of the late Charles David Reed, and Barbara Stackpole Ward who survives in East View.

 

In addition to his mother, Joe is also survived by his wife, Sheila Roush Reed, whom he married on May 25, 1996; one son, Chancellor Reed of Jane Lew; two sisters, Candace Reed-Evans and her husband Randall of Salem, and Alicia Carol Walton and her husband David of Akron, OH; two nieces, Barbara and Sherri Reed, and two nephews, Benjamin and Jonathan Walton.

 

He was also preceded in death by one brother, James David Reed.

 

Joe was a United States Marine Veteran having served 2 years with Platoon #2095. He was a truck driver/driller in the oil and gas field, having worked with Superior Well Service. He traveled extensively in the United States while working in the oil and gas fields. He loved fishing and spending time with his son and he was reared Seventh Day Adventist.

 

Joe was given a gift that enabled him to accept his death with peace and dignity. He and his mother had spent their moments together talking of meeting again in God’s Heaven, and of God’s comforting words, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”.

 

In keeping with his wishes, Joe will be cremated.
