Obituaries

Laura Ella Carpenter Wilson, 83, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at her residence.

She was born in Salem, WV, on October 19, 1941, a daughter of the late George Carpenter and the late Virginia Taylor Clevenger.

Ms. Wilson is survived by two children, Maria Lena Wilson, and Darreck Wilson; and four grandchildren, Brandy Ferrell, Patsy (Tre) Trecost III, Hana Wilson, and Kyle Wilson. She also leaves behind five brothers and two sisters, George Carpenter II, Priscilla Carpenter Pierce, Mike Clevenger, Greg Clevenger, Randy Clevenger, Lucretia Clevenger Kelley, and Tracey Clevenger.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Tina M. Wilson Ferrell and Christie D. Wilson Trecost; stepsiblings, Robert Clevenger, Harold Clevenger, Ronald Clevenger, John Clevenger, and Janet Clevenger Burch; paternal grandparents, Harris and Ella Carpenter, and maternal grandparents, Hamilton and Alice Taylor.

Laura was a graduate of Salem High School and retired from the State of WV with over 22 years of service. She was known for her beauty and friendly personality, and was very supportive of her family.

Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and a private inurnment will be held in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
