Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow the visitation in the WV National Cemetery at 12:00 pm. Full Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard.

Lawrence Larry Edward “Pete” Kitts, 90, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 in the WV Veterans Nursing Facility.  He was born in Sutton, WV on August 30, 1927, the youngest son of the late James “Jim: Andrew and Mary “Link” Green Kitts.

 

He is survived by one sister, Virginia Mae Keaton of Cumming, GA; and two nieces, Connie Sue Alexander of Cumming, GA, and Nancy Lou Hulme and her husband Steve of Garner, NC.

 

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Homer Kitts.

 

Mr. Kitts was a United States Navy Veteran having served during WWII, and a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a life member of the Meuse Argonne Post No. 573 VFW, and the Roy E. Parrish Post No. 13 American Legion.

 

He was formerly employed with the Fruehauf Trailer Company which was headquartered in Detroit , MI, and was retired from CSX Railroad, the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Co., where he was employed as a brakeman and conductor for 23 years, retiring in 1993.

 

Mr. Kitts was also a Licensed private pilot.  He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the United Transportation Union Local No. 605, and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare “NCPSSM”.

 

He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

 

Mr. Kitts was Protestant by faith and raised in the Methodist Church.
