  Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Simpson Creek Baptist Church in Bridgeport with Reverend Dr. C. Michael Hopkins officiating.

Lillian Edith Burt Brennen, 94, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the residence of her daughter in Winchester, KY.

 

She was born in Youngstown, OH on August 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Violet Hollingberry Burt.

 

Twice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph G. Fairless, on May, 1995, whom she married in May, 1946; and also her second husband, Michael Brennen in February, 2011, whom she married November, 1996.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Jo Ann Scott of Elizabeth City, NC, Janet Sims and her husband Larry of Winchester, KY, and Judith Starkey of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Mathew Scott and his wife Cindy of Whiteville, NC, Andrew Scott and his wife Ruth of Hampstead, NC, Sarah Shoenfelt and her husband Dan of Amman, Jordan, Heather Mudrick and her husband Mark of Bridgeport, Allison Shirripa and her husband Robbie of Swickley, PA, and Craig Starkey and his wife Jill of Bridgeport; 14 great grandchildren, John Joseph, Noah and Abigail Shoenfelt, Caleb Winig, Madison, Emma and Grace Hansberry, Brooklynn, Alexander and Lukas Shirripa, and Morgan, Kaitlyn, Isabella and Maddox Mudrick; and one sister, Barbara Cua and her husband Elliott Starkey Patsy of Berlin Center, OH.

 

She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, John J. Scott and Al A. Starkey; and one infant granddaughter, Bridgete Christine Scott.

 

Mrs. Brennen was a 1941 graduate of Struthers High School in Youngstown, OH and was a homemaker. She was a volunteer for the Shepherd’s Corner and attended the Simpson Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Lillian loved reading, working crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Dr., Winchester, KY 40391; Shepherd’s Corner 101 Pennsylvania Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330; or to the building fund of Simpson Creek Baptist Church 231 W Philadelphia Ave, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
