Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:00 am with Reverend John Koerner presiding.   The committal service will follow at 1:00 pm at the Rehoboth Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA.

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Lois Kyle Parenti Nelson passed away in Clarksburg, WV on January 28, 2018.

 

She was born on January 5, 1918 in Belle Vernon, PA, a daughter of the late Fannie Kyle Parenti and Joseph S. Parenti.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard H. Nelson on February 9, 1994, two sisters Amanda Nolen and Jean Reed and one brother Edmund “Buddy” Parenti and their spouses.

 

She is survived by two sons and their families; Norman R. Nelson and wife Rosemary of Pittstown, NJ and Jeffery W. Nelson and wife Rebecca of Bristol, WV; five grandchildren, Joshua Nelson and wife Sasha of Atlanta, GA, Molly Brown and husband Scott of Chicago, IL, Christopher Nelson and wife Nathalie of Washington, DC, Jeffery Nelson II of Nutter Fort, WV and Jared Nelson of Clarksburg, WV and two great grandchildren Grace Brown and Charlotte Brown of Chicago, IL.

 

She is also survived by three nieces; Eileen Amneus, Nancy Deck, and Sandra Parenti; two nephews, Edmund Parenti, Jr and William Parenti and wife Sandy and their families and one cousin, Alvin Parenti.

 

She began her employment as an operator for Bell Telephone in Belle Vernon, PA. During World War II she did her part to support the war effort by working for Thompson Bearings, Cleveland, Ohio making ball bearings for airplane engines. Upon relocating to Clarksburg with her husband, she was the long-time receptionist for Dr. Paul Gordon’s medical practice. By far, the jobs she loved most were wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and great aunt and, no word of a lie, she made the best rhubarb custard pie you ever tasted!

 

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she spent many hours lending a hand to things that needed to be done, especially in the kitchen. The church was indeed her second family. She also belonged to the Stealey Terrace Garden Club and had many friends there also.

In lieu of flowers, contributions  may be made in memory of Lois Nelson to the Presbyterian Church of Clarksburg, 175 West Main Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
