Obituaries

Marvin Lee Gaines, 68, of New Milton, WV and formerly of Charleston, WV, went to be with the Lord due to a tragic tractor accident on December 16, 2018.

He was born in Glenville, WV on May 3, 1950 the son of the late Homer Lawson Gaines and Opal Sanders Gaines.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janice Ann Woodward Gaines whom he married November 30, 1989 and resides at their home in New Milton.

Also surviving are one son, Lee F. Gaines of St. Clair, WV; two daughters, Christie Rogers and husband Kevin of Lumberport, WV and Cheryl Gaines of Lost Creek, WV; three grandchildren, Nikolaus Rogers, Caleb Rogers and Gabriella Gaines; two brothers, David Gaines and wife Ella of Lost Creek, WV and Lloyd Gaines and wife Louann of Gassaway, WV; one sister, Barbara Farmer and husband John of Oakland, MD; one sister-in-law, Diane Miles and husband Benny of Grafton, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Marvin graduated from Troy High School, Glenville Sate College and attended LaFayette University in Philadelphia. He retired with 40yrs of service from Logan Corporation in Equipment Sales. He attended Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren and enjoyed his farm, family and beloved animals, including two horses and two cats.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV 26301 on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend George Ochletree presiding. Interment will follow at the Spurgeon Cemetery.
