So sorry to hear of Betty Prestons passing, she was a big part of my school days growing up at country club road as a wonderful neighbor and friend to myself and my family. She will be fondly remembered.

The Prestons and the Tonkins were a big part of my life from the day my parents brought me home from the hospital until I moved the the DC Metro area. Some of the best memories I have of Betty were of Christmas Eves at the Wilson home on Waverly Way. I always had to play "Oh Christmas Tree" on the piano for her and she never remembered the words and always sang, Oh Page 16, because that was the page number in the Christmas Carol Book I used. Then there were the wonderful Kentucky Derby Parties where the Mint Julips flowed and the food was fantastic. I remember when she and Peck built their home at the Country Club and how sad my parents, well all of us on Waverly Way, to see them move. There was the Friday Night Bridge Club and a ladies afternoon Bridge Club (I still have Bridge Tallyes from one of them with each ladies name on her card. Betty was one of the few people who never fell in our pool during a party. She was a wonderful, loving, fun person and will be greatly missed by all of us who knew her. My deepest sympathy to David, Layne, Sharon their spouses and families.

Betty was the last surviving good friend of my parents. She and my mom were active in some of the same organizations and she always felt a special kinship with my dad because he was one of those “Shinnyston boys”. With fond memories and deepest sympathy.

I was honored to have been Cleo’s, “ Betty”, and “ Pattie’s” hairdresser for many years. We always had much to laugh about, remembering Mrs. Rolland and her love of dressing up at parties ( changing 2 or 3 times during) lol. They all are and will be missed. Deepest sympathy.

Betty was a true lady dedicated to helping others. Sharp as a tack and a real competitive card player-- she taught me how to play Canasta and made turtle pancakes for Dave and me on many occasions. A dedicated teacher and a lifelong learner-- she will be missed by all who had the pleasure of spending time with her.
