Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 where a vigil rite will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Akila Rodrigo and Father William Anderson as concelebrants. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mary K. Larry Maslanik, 88, of Clarksburg, WV passed away following a brief illness at her residence on Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Mount Clare, WV on May 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Domenico and Jennie Loria Larry.

Mary K married Gerald James “Jerry” Maslanik on November 26, 1976. He preceded her in death after 42 years of marriage on September 25, 2019.

Surviving Mary K are one son, Robert Criner of Bridgeport; two daughters, Kathryn Cox and husband Fred of Wilmington, NC and Christine Monell and husband Peter of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Curtis, Dane and Cameron Cox, and Damien Monell. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Ronald Larry and wife Peggy of St. Charles, IL, Dr. John Larry and wife Lenore of West Chester, PA; one sister-in-law, Velma Larry of Mt. Clare; as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her fur babies, her cats, Buddy, Millie and Emmie.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, William Eugene Criner, her daughter, Laurie Ann Criner; three brothers, Jim, Joe, and Rudy Larry, two sisters, Angel Palagino and Janet Sabatelli, two sisters-in-law, Jane and Mildred Larry, and two brothers-in law, John Palagino and Joseph Sabatelli.

Mrs. Maslanik was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary’s High School where she was the Class Valedictorian and was the recipient of the Bausch & Lamb Chemistry Award. She went on to attend Fairmont State University where she concentrated on Interior Design and Psychology. In addition, Mary K attended the United Technical Career Center where she became a licensed CNA in 2000 and a licensed Realtor in 2005 and went on to work for the United Hospital Center and Landmark Realty until 2019.

Mary K was the Owner and President of Mountain Klassics Contract Design and Office Furniture for 30 years along with her husband Gerald Maslanik. She was appointed by the State Department of Health as a Consumer Representative on the Advisory Board to the State Department of Education and was a consultant under the State Department of Education to provide teaching and support services to professionals and parents throughout the state of WV in conjunction with the Colin Anderson Center. Mary K was associated with many projects including the Empire and MVB Banks throughout the state as well as medical offices in Chicago, IL.

Mary K was a member of the St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and passing down her Italian traditions especially the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. Above all, her greatest love was her family.
