Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:00 am with Reverend Michael Burge officiating. Interment will be in the WV National Cemetery where full military graveside rite will be accorded.

Michael Shawn Thompson, 54, died February 19, 2019 at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.

 

He was born in Clarksburg on May 4, 1964, a son of Phyllis Fittro Thompson Brown who survives in Bridgeport, and the late Fred William (Bill) Thompson.

 

In addition to the mother, he is survived by his daughter, Ashley Brooke Thompson of Clarksburg; his sister Beth Harrison and her husband Frank of Colts Neck, NJ; his brother Chad Thompson and his wife Amber of Pinellas Park, FL; and nephews, Jonathan Harrison and his wife Brittany of Tinton Falls, NJ, Steven Harrison and his wife Amanda and their two children Ella and Dean of Freehold, NJ; and Daniel Harrison of Colts Neck, NJ.

 

Also surviving are a special uncle, Dan Thompson; uncles Connor Thompson and his wife Janie, and Charles Thompson and his wife Terry; aunts Mary Ann Folmar of Clarksburg and Martha Brown of Canton, Ohio; step-brother Kirk Brown; step-sister Susan Brown Black and her three sons, Michael, Scott and Ben of Ormond Beach, FL; his companion, Jayne Wells; and several cousins.
In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul W. and Ida Marie Fox Thompson; his maternal grandparents, William Harry and Florence Fowler Fittro; and his step-father, Dr. Hugh M. Brown.

 

Mike was a 1982 graduate of Washington Irving High School, and served his country in the United States Army from 1984 to 1987. After his military service, Mike worked at Wholesale Tire as a mechanic and also worked with his Uncle Dan in the wrecker business. At the time of his illness, he was employed at M & F Products as a machinist.
