Silber Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Rd, Cleveland, OH, 44106-2634 or Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, 10 Medical Drive Morgantown, WV, 26505. Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. where a service will be held at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Charles Madaus presiding. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. McCourt will be cremated following the service.

Michael Wayne McCourt, 58, of Clarksburg, passed away at River Oaks Healthcare Center on Sunday, December 15, 2024, following an extended battle with lung cancer.
Michael was born on November 28, 1966 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Edith Mayer McCourt Russell.
He is survived by his son, Brandon Stanley; five siblings, Linda Luchuck and husband Fred of Wallace, Dorothy “Dottie” Layton and husband David of East View, Joeann Matko and husband Danny of Mt Clare, Dorn McCourt and companion Mickey Petitto of Nutter Fort and Stacy McCourt of TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy McCourt White and Ingrid McCourt Todd.
Michael was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 187th Infantry 10th Mtn. Division as a talented Army medic. He spent his career as a traveling X-Ray Technician for WVU Medicine. He had a love of music and especially enjoyed listening to his favorite band “Umphrey’s McGee”. He was most joyful when he was able to support his nieces and nephews at their events and was endearingly known as “Uncle Mike” by many who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, and the genuine care he showed for his family, friends and patients. He had a personality that would light up a room and was an inspiration to many for his optimism and positivity. He attended Bible Baptist Temple in Stonewood, WV.
