Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Robert Wilson officiating.   Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Okey Ward Burton, 83, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, in the United Hospital Center following an extended illness.  He was born in New Martinsville on May 10, 1933, a son of the late Lloyd and Roberta Newman Burton.

 

He was married to Helen Louise Bennett Burton on December 14, 1968, who preceded him in death on June 22, 2011.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Melissa Reaser and her husband Tom, Jr. of Salem, Regina Allawat and her husband Mike, II of Clarksburg, and Stacie Gump and her husband Jared of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Megan Allawat, Amelia Reaser, and Hannah, Lydia and Ethan Gump; one half sister, Tammy Mallamo and husband Mark of Virginia; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Michael Allawat; one brother, Curtis “Burl” Burton; one sister, Auttie Nice; and one brother-in-law, Bill Nice.

 

Mr. Burton was a retired coal miner at Dola, Clinchfield and Blacksville #2 mines with 34 years of service. He was a member of the UMWA District 1702, and a member of the Abundant Life Church.  Okey loved hunting.
