Patricia G. Brinkley, 75, of Seminole, Florida, passed away on August 1, 2017 after a long illness.

Pat was raised in Wilmington Delaware and a 1959 graduate of Conrad High School, where she served as yearbook editor of the Conradian. She was graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Elementary Education. She received her Master’s in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma.

Her career as a children’s librarian for many years at the Gulfport City Library gave her much satisfaction. As the former owner of a school book fair business, “Raising Readers,” she spent many hours reviewing and selecting quality children’s literature that focused, to a large extent, on animals and nature, the environment, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Pat was an active member of the local chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and of several environmental groups, some of which focused on endangered species and on protecting wolves in their natural habitats. She also enjoyed antiquing and doll collecting.

As a career Army officer’s wife, she lived in many locations, including Germany, Oklahoma, Georgia, and even West Point, New York — one of her favorite places.
Among her most loved beaches were Chincoteague, Virginia, and Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, the latter of which she frequented on many a sunny afternoon.
Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband of almost 53 years, Barry Brinkley, who was her loving caregiver for several years during her illness.

She is also survived by her sister Rebecca Scarborough (William), her nephews Mark (Michelle) and Stephen Scarborough (Lindy), her grand niece, Hannah, and grand nephews, Isaac and Will –all of Delaware–as well as by nieces Krista Votaw and Jessica Testman of Charleston, West Virginia, and nephew Michael Brinkley of Gainesville, Florida, and grand niece Peyton Brinkley and grand nephew Tyler Testman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Isabel Delle Donne.

Pat will be greatly missed by all those who loved her gentle and sweet demeanor.
