Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Stottelmyer presiding. Interment will follow at the Hepzibah Cemetery.

Pearl Marcelina Vernon, 86, of Hepzibah passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the United Hospital Center following an extended illness.

She was born in Hepzibah, WV on August 16, 1932 the daughter of the late Cecil Guy and Edna May Bush Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland Russell Vernon in December of 1977.

She is survived by children, Sharon Popovich and husband Butch of FL, Bud Vernon and wife Jill of Hepzibah, WV, Brian Vernon and wife Pam of Hepzibah, WV and Kathy Webb and husband Paul of West Milford, WV; Siblings, Ethel Bertie Davis (Duty) of Hepzibah, WV, Sam Vernon and wife
Carla of Hepzibah, WV and Carolyn Breeden and husband Robert of KY; ten grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Danny James Vernon and siblings, Thelma Gerrard, Juanita Yoak and Gerald Vernon.

She was employed at the famous Sislers Truck Stop from 1965-1976. She was a very caring woman with much love to share. She fostered 27 children after retiring from Sislers. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily, playing Skip Bo cards and was an avid collector of cookbooks. She loved her many nieces and nephews. Their caring cards, phone calls and visits, especially George Gerrard, whom she loved dearly. All family members would like to recognize and give a world of thanks and unconditional love to Pam as well as Duty and Roger for daily visits and food. And to Okey and Janie for cards and visits until she was moved to her daughter and son-in-law’s in West Milford. She was a member of Message of Freedom Church in Grafton.
