Richard Arlen “Rick” Gonzalez, 78, of Clarksburg, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Rick was born on August 12, 1947, in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late David and Nieves Fernandez Gonzalez. He grew up in North View and was affectionately known as “Ricky” to many friends and family.

On May 8, 1989 he married the love of his life, Fonda Robin (Swiger) Gonzalez who resides at their home in Mt. Clare; he is also survived by his daughter, Ashley Sayres and her husband Joe of Jane Lew; two special sons, James Thomas and his wife Peggy and Andrew Swiger, all of Clarksburg; his grandchildren who he loved and adored, Paige West and her husband Matt of St. Mary’s, Austin Thomas of Clarksburg and Kasen and Ansley Sayres of Jane Lew; six great-grandchildren, Brantlee and Emory Thomas of FL, Layla Thomas of Philippi, and Broden, Cohen and Mackenley West of St. Mary’s; brother, Donald “DeeDee “ Gonzalez and his wife Patty; sister-in-law, Thelma Gonzalez; nieces and nephews, DeeAnn Becht, her husband Anthony, and their children Olivia and Rocco Becht, Tiffany Flanigan, her husband Scott, and their son, Deklan Flanigan, Adam Gonzalez, his wife Cheri and their son Oliver, Bridgett Gonzalez and her son Matthew, David Gonzalez, and many other nieces and nephews he greatly loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Gonzalez and his nephew Ivan Gonzalez.

Rick was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1965. He worked at Lockheed Martin for over 30 years and greatly loved his job. He loved nothing more than the sunshine and beach. He was always outdoors and working on projects. He was always a phone call away and ready and willing to help. He attended Family of God Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He loved the Lord and loved telling others about the goodness of God. He was loved beyond measure by many. There was no better father, husband, uncle, son or brother to be found. He will be greatly missed.
