Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home,201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Plum of Lakeview UMC in, Saint Albans, WV, presiding. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard Duane “Rick” Ware, 72, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away in the United Hospital Center on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Rick was born in Clarksburg, WV on June 26,1951, a son of the late Harold and Nancy Heenan Ware.

He graduated from Washington Irving High School, Class of 1969. He also attended Fairmont State University. Rick grew up in the Hartland area of Clarksburg where he was active in Little League baseball and Pop Warner football. He also helped and worked for his father Duane, at Ware’s Grocery Store in Hartland.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lee Heenan Ware and father H. Duane Ware and his sister, Sheridan “Sherry” Ware Todd. He was also preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Claude and Lucille Ware and Maternal Grandparents, James and Gladys Heenan.

Rick leaves behind four children; Kimberly Burke, San Francisco, Ca, Yolanda Burke, Nay, Ohio, Shannon Mosco, Bridgeport, WV and Jennifer Ware of Modesto, CA. He also leaves behind his sister Christy Ware of Modesto, CA and a brother, Tim Ware of Clarksburg, WV. Rick had 12 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren with the addition of several Nieces and Nephews.

Rick was a very strong supporter of the WVU Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved listening to vinyl albums on his elaborate stereo system. In his younger years, Rick was an accomplished artist and athlete. He took the knowledge gained from his father’s grocery business and began climbing the ranks to become manager of several supermarkets in California and WV. Rick was a Methodist by faith and attended Calvary UMC in Adamston, WV. Rick will certainly be missed by all who knew this gentle soul.
