Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jon Hayes presiding.   Per his request, he will be cremated following the service.

Richard Louis Smith, 62, of Gregory’s Run Road, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017, at his residence, following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, on September 12, 1955, a son of the late Junior L. Smith and Phyliss Jean Cunningham Smith Johnson of Clarksburg.

 

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne Jarvis Smith, whom he married on March 25, 1978.

 

He is also survived by one son, Nathan Scott Smith and wife Nicole of Clarksburg; one daughter, Traci Anne Smith of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Zachariah Walker Smith and Henasey Kay Elder; two brothers, Thomas Smith of Clarksburg and E. Lindsey Smith and wife Sharon of Clarksburg; one sister, Marianna K. Eubank of Clarksburg; and his mother-in-law, Lotus June Jarvis.
He attended Reynoldsville Baptist Church and formerly was employee at Bowen Tools as a warehouseman “A”. He enjoyed his family and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Ashley D. Smith and Amber N. Smith and one niece Kayla Kyer.
