Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.   Mr. Griffith will be taken to the Freedom Baptist Church, 107 Illinois Avenue, Nutter Fort, on Monday, August 22, 2016 to lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service, which will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jim Sanders officiating.   Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Robert Edwin “Bob” Griffith, 81, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Akron, OH on June 11, 1935, a son of the late Sidney Reed and Lelah Hutchinson Griffith.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mae Ritter Griffith, whom he married on September 15, 1957; two sons, David Alan Griffith and his wife Sherry of Avon, CT, and Brian Dale Griffith and his wife Beth Ann of Bridgeport; and five granddaughters, Lauren Olivia, Morgan Ashley, Rachel Elizabeth, Emily Rose and Julia Caroline.  He was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Armstrong.

 

Mr. Griffith was a 1954 graduate of Washington Irving High School and a Untied States Army veteran.  He was a Night Expediter with the U.S. Postal Service, having retired in 1994, and was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Nutter Fort.
