Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00.   Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Robert Joe “Bobby Joe” Bennett, 84, of Lost Creek, Isaac Creek Community, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness surrounded by his family.

 

He was born on Isaac Creek, WV on August 5, 1933, a son of the late Harley and Lucy Sommerville Bennett.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Myers Bennett, whom he married on March 2, 1957 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

 

He is also survived by two sons, Robert Lee Bennett of Good Hope, and Brian Michael Bennett of Isaac Creek; three daughters, Kimberly Sue Smithson and her companion Mica Burnside of Good Hope, Melissa Ann Golden and her husband Rodney of Isaac Creek, and Joy Jarrett of Duck Creek; six grandchildren, April Wilcox, Christopher Bennett and his wife Jennifer, Nathan Smithson and his wife Stacie, Brittany Smith and her husband Chris, Brent Golden and his wife Rachel, and Cameron Jarrett and his wife Irma; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Delores Ruth Bunch and her husband Bill of Spring Lake, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Eugene Bennett.

 

Mr. Bennett was a 1951 graduate of Unidis High School, attended WV Business College, and worked as a coal miner, Ingersoll-Rand and Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a 15 year member of the West Milford Lions Club, and a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of People’s Hospice and the Nursing Staff at Mon General Hospital.
