Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Flanary presiding. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be accorded.

Roger Lee Richards, 75, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pa, following a brief illness.
He was born in Stonewood, WV, on April 4, 1949, a son of the late Joseph Virgil and Mildred Cottrill Richards.
Mr. Richards was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lee Long Richards.
He is survived by his siblings, Virginia E. Cutlip of Clarksburg, Doloris Christy and husband Paul of SC, Linda Lees of Columbus, OH, Terry Richards of Charleston, WV, Leroy Richards and wife Marcia of War, WV, Steve Richards and wife Debbie of Clarksburg, Cathy Marie DeHart and husband Earl “J.R.” of Colonial Heights, VA, and Joseph “Michael” Richards and wife Jeanne of Clarksburg; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Janice Richards of Petersburg, VA, and Karen Richards Allman of Salem, WV.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Richards, John B. Richards, William “Virgil” Richards, and Junior M. Richards. Roger was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School in 1967 and graduated from Radiology School. He served our country as a veteran in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a dog handler with his dog, Rex.
He retired from the United Hospital Center after 38 years of service as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Roger was a member of the Upper Room Church in Adamston, where he loved singing from a young age. He volunteered every month for the Veteran’s Distribution. He enjoyed woodworking, being in nature and seeing wildlife and more recently riding his bike to stay in shape.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431.
