Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.   A memorial service will follow in Orwell, Ohio at a later date.

Roosevelt Abraham “Junior” George, 84, of Orwell, OH died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born in Clarksburg, WV on May 6, 1934 a son of the late Roosevelt Haddad and Mary Herrick George.

 

Surviving are one sister, Mary Marcelline Allen, Bridgeport. Nine nephews, Leland George, Fairmont; Marty (Becky) George, Stonewood; Timothy (Joanna) Allen, Stonewood; Don (Betty) Allen, Kettering, OH; Stanley Allen, Clarksburg; Richard (Marita) Allen, Kettering, OH; Dan (Lisa) Serafini, Jr, Hudson, FL; Michael (Laura) Serafini, Baltimore; and Rocky Ferrell, Clarksburg. Seven nieces, Elaine (Tom Tillman) George, Canaan Valley; Beverly (Jim) Kelly, Clarksburg, Carol (Larry) Dodson, Weston; Cindy Curran, Elysburg, PA; Marcie Lopez, Bridgeport; Deanna Critchfield, Tampa; and Micki Pauley, Clarksburg. Ross is also survived by over 70 great and great-great nieces and nephews and many friends, both in Clarksburg and Orwell.

 

Ross was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Eddy, June Buffey, Linda Boyer and infant Aneasa George; by his brothers, Thomas, Lewis and infant Paul George; by nephews Dan Serafini, Michael Buffey and Richard George and by niece Susan Allen D’Annunzio.

 

Ross served on the USS Coral Sea while in the Navy and earned a BA in Journalism from WVU under the GI Bill. He taught English in Ashtabula County, OH schools, retiring from Grand Valley High School. He was a lifelong student and loved to discuss and debate with family and friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library or Grand Valley Public Library, Orwell.
