Rosa Lee Williams, 86, of Clarksburg passed away on May 9, 2024, after a beautiful life of loving and being loved. By God’s grace, she has transitioned from her blessed life on earth to her glorious life with Christ her beloved Lord and Savior.

Rosa Lee was born on November 22, 1937, to Willie Mack Patterson and Irene Preston Patterson in McDowell, WV. She attended Dunbar High School through her junior year and with the integration of schools, was transferred to Monongah High School for her senior year and proudly graduated (1956). In all things, Rosa Lee demonstrated a tenacious spirit, set her heart on taking things in stride and continued her journey, loving and being loved.

Rosa Lee also graduated from the Clarksburg Beauty Academy, worked for some time at Hazel Atlas Glass and proudly retired from the City of Clarksburg where she served as meter maid for many years. She was a member of the Church of God in Clarksburg.

On Saturday, May 24th, 1958, Rosa Lee wed Clarence Frank “Popeye” Williams. Together they had three handsome sons: Clarence Anthony (Tony), Keith Patrick (married to Judy), and Marcus Van (married to Peggy). Rosa Lee’s life was made richer by her adoring grandchildren: Benjamin, Max (married to Kala), Lydia, Wendy, Derek, Lucas and Tanna.

Also surviving Rosa Lee are her dear sister Maxine, fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, her close friends of many years Dannie Holyfield and Taffy Blackshire, with whom Rosa Lee enjoyed many special moments.

In addition to her parents, husband, and son “Tony” “Mo”, Rosa Lee was preceded in death by her sister-in-law and beloved friend, Essie Mae Washington.

In late September 2023, Rosa Lee took up residence at Clarksburg Healthcare Center where she was affectionately called “Ms. Rosa.” These are the words of the aid who cared for Rosa Lee during her last evening on earth: “Ms. Rosa was a beautiful, funny woman. She always had us laughing. [Her passing] hurt all of us.” That was Rosa Lee. She spent her life loving and being loved. We will miss her more than words can express but we eagerly anticipate the day we are reunited with her in the magnificent presence of the One who has loved us perfectly and is teaching us to receive and give His love.
