Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rose Ella will be taken to the Oasis Worship Center, 8556 Cost Avenue, Stonewood, WV on Thursday, May 29, 2025, to lie in state from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Doug Sands officiating. Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

Rose Ella Barnes Matheny, 80, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Clarksburg on September 6, 1944, a daughter of the late Robert Mays and Josephine Louise Barberio Barnes.
She was married to John C. Matheny, who preceded her in death on August 22, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, John C. Matheny, II and his fiancé Kimberly Reed of Clarksburg and Robert G. Matheny and his wife Melissa of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Maria Seamon and her husband Zach, Jacob Swiger and his wife Alisia, Brayden Matheny, Robert Matheny, II and his wife Laura, Joseph M. Matheny and his fiancé Casey Richwine, Joshua Matheny and his wife Kyley, and Dominick J. Matheny; 11 great grandchildren, Violet Matheny, Rosella Matheny, Kinsley Townsend, Gianna Seamon, Kimber Matheny, Vincent Seamon, Karri Matheny, Cayson Swiger, Caydon Swiger, Nila Swiger and Grayson Swiger; two brothers, Robert Barnes, Jr. and his wife Virginia of Richmond, VA and Sam Barnes and his wife Cathy of Shinnston; three sisters-in-law, Bets Barnes, Sherry Barnes and Delores Barnes; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Johnny Barnes, Judy :Mitzy” Andrew, Jimmy Barnes, Randy Barnes, and Mary Barnes; one brother-in-law, Dave Andrew; and one sister-in-law, Jone Barnes.
Rose Ella was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School and was a member of the Oasis Worship Center and the East View Lions Club. She had a very caring and giving heart and deeply loved and lived for her family.
