Family and friends may call at the Clarksburg First Church of the Nazarene, 9254 Cost Avenue, Stonewood, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. where services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Richard Settles and Pastor D.J. Hoff presiding. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Park Cemetery.

Rubin Bittner Vanscoy, 68, of Stonewood, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his residence.

 

He was born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Rubin and Phyllis Zihlman Vanscoy.

 

He is survived by his wife Donna Jean Exline Vanscoy whom he married on July 21, 1973.

 

Also surviving him is his son Rubin James Vanscoy of Stonewood; grandson Jacob James Vanscoy of Stonewood; three brothers, Richard Vanscoy and wife Denise of New Haven, MI, Robert Vanscoy and wife Ursla of Macomb, MI, Gary Vanscoy and wife Diane of Columbus, OH; five sisters, Ruth Ruperd and husband Tom of Caro, MI, Teresa Bodus and husband Robert of East Point, MI, Barbara Marchio of Michigan, Kylene Claypool of Texas, Shirley Miller and husband Jerry of Mt. Clare; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents Mr. Vanscoy is preceded in death by his brother Daniel Vanscoy, sister Linda Johnson, and Kyle and Marion Green Goldsmith who raised him as their own since infancy.

 

Rubin was a General Laborer for Anchor Hocking Glass Factory where he retired from after nineteen years of service. He next became an employee of D’Annunzio’s Italian Bread having baked with them for over eighteen years. He then enjoyed his time as a door greeter at Sam’s Club where he loved talking to all their shoppers. He never knew a stranger. He was a member of Clarksburg First Church of the Nazarene.
