Ruth Cropp Schneider, 97, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Mechanicsburg, PA.

She was born in Clarksburg on May 4, 1920, a daughter of the late William Carroll and Ethel Lucille Reider Steele.

Twice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hosmer Cropp on April 17, 1970, and also her second husband, Richard E. Schneider in March, 1991.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Riggs of Bridgeport, and Jane Acri and her husband Ercol, Jr., of Mechanicsburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Robert Matthew Riggs and his wife Kimberly of Lakeland, FL, Michael Wayne Riggs and his companion Michele Berry of Bridgeport, Ann Acri of Philadelphia, PA, Ercol Acri of West Minster, CO, Aaron Flinn of St. Petersburg, FL. Caroline Cropp of Wilmington, NC, and Philip Cropp and his wife Trish of St. Petersburg, FL; one step grandson, Cody Williams who is in the United States Marine Corp.; one sister, Alice Bayne of Bridgeport; and one niece, Susan Stalnaker and her husband Lee of Bridgeport.

She was also preceded in death by two children, Ann Cropp and Robert “Bob” Cropp.

Mrs. Schneider was a 1936 graduate of Washington Irving High School and was retired from the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center and H & R Block in the clerical department.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Schneider will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
