Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. where the Trisagion service will be held at 2:00 p.m. to start the visitation. Mrs. Alastanos will be taken to the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 1010 Factory Street, Clarksburg, on Monday, January 20, 2025, where she will lie in state from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Father Stelyios Muksuris presiding. Interment will follow in the Elkview Masonic Cemetery.

Sofia Argyrakis Alastanos, 94, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at John Manchin Health Care Center in Fairmont, WV.
She was born in Chios, Greece on January 14, 1931, a daughter of the late Alexander and Katherine Koupars Argyrakis.
Mrs. Alastanos was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Alastanos, on July 15, 2006.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her daughter, Katina Alastanos Doulis; her brother Thanos Argyrakis; and two sisters, Katie Kallikie and Novie Koxarakis.
She is survived by her son Michael S. Alastanos of Bridgeport, WV, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Mrs. Alastanos was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church where she was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She was an extremely talented seamstress and loved cooking and baking Greek food and pastries.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, PO Box 4176, Clarksburg, WV 26302.
