Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Catholic Funeral Rites will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2014 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Father William A .Anderson presiding. Interment will follow at the Kovar Cemetery.

Steve C. Kovar,84, of Clarksburg passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017.

He was born in Clarksburg on December 28, 1932, a son of the late Frank Kovar and Mary Yascanich Kovar.

He is survived by his wife Jean See Kovar, whom he married August 18, 1956. He is also survived by one son, Steve Kovar, Jr. and his wife Peggy; two daughters, Brenda Kovar Mayle and Dottie Kovar Planck and her husband Jeff; one son-in-law, Danny R. Mayle; nine grandchildren, David Blair and his wife Molly, Douglas Blair and his wife Mary, Donnie Shanholtz and his wife Crystal, Danny Shanholtz and his wife Diana, Delores Carson and her husband Norman, Danny D. Mayle and his wife Jaime, Stephanie Mayle Kelley and her husband Stephen, Jesse Planck and his wife Erin and Joshua Planck, 13 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; one brother, Felix Kovar; one sister, Julia Kovar Simon and her husband Andy and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Kovar, John Kovar and Tom Kovar and three sisters, Sophia Cochran, Mary Stutler and Katherine Shaffer.

Steve was a coal miner for several years and also worked for Service Masters. He was in the West Virginia National Guard for 13 years, a member of the Arlington Glen Falls Lions Club, a Life Member Auxiliary to VFW Post 915, Salem and a Life Member Beach Mt. Sportsman Club. His hobbies were playing with grandchildren, dressing as Santa for Christmas, canning peppers, making jerky, camping, fishing, hunting and helping with community projects.
