There will be no public visitation.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

Steven James Helmick, 68, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Louis A. Johnson Veteran’s Administration Hospital, following a brief illness.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, on August 17, 1948, a son of the late Lewis William Helmick and Margaret Ann Walden Helmick of Bridgeport.

In addition to his mother, Steven is survived by his daughters, Ranee Joyce Helmick of Tracy, CA, Laurie Patricia Helmick of Elk Grove, CA, and Jamie Marie Helmick of Castro Valley, CA; one brother, Arthur Lee Helmick and wife Nancy of Clarksburg; two sisters, Margaret Ann Stearns and husband Paul of Grasonville, MD and Mary Joyce Heflin and husband Steve of Pasadena, MD.

 

Steven was a graduate of Washington Irving High School, Class of 1966, and a veteran in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. 

 

He retired from Texas Instrument where he was a Technology Technician in Santa Cruz CA, and returned to Clarksburg in 2001. He worked at the Bridgeport Kroger’s, and enjoyed being with family and friends and working with computers.

 

There will be no public visitation. 

 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Virginia Hospice, 8 Hartman Plaza, Buckhannon, WV 26201-2230
