Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 10:00 am with Father Walt Jagela as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330.

Thomas R. Simon, 97, of Bridgeport passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 in the United Hospital Center.

He was born in Clarksburg, WV on February 17, 1927, a son of the late Elias R. and Nellie Ann Wakem Simon.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Geraldine Louise “Gerry” Flannery Simon, whom he married on July 4, 1955.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen Simon and his wife Tracie of Clarksburg and Robert Simon of Dunmore, WV; three grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Giddee”, Andrew Thomas Simon, Stephen Noah Simon and Christian William Simon; one sister, Jean Dupont; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, David Andrew Simon and infant Tommy Simon; one sister, Catherine Courey; and four brothers, Simon, George, Wakem, and Abe Simon.

Thomas was a 1945 graduate of Victory High School and a United States Army Veteran having served in Italy during WWII. He was a mail carrier and electronics tech for 39 years with the United states Postal Service. Tom walked 5 miles every day at the VA Park until he was 91 years old. He was Catholic by faith and was a lifelong member of the All Saints Catholic Church.
