Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 12:00 to 8:00 pm, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation.    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Father Casey Mahone as Celebrant.    Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Timothy John Poniewasz, I, age 69, of Clarksburg, passed on exaltation of the Holy Cross on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

 

He was born in Clarksburg on March 28, 1947, a son of the late Mitchell J. and Margaret Ann Liptak Poniewasz.

 

Tim was the patriarch of his immediate family, survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanne Marie Pitek Poniewasz, whom he married October 11, 1969.

 

Also surviving are one son, Timothy J. Poniewasz, II of Bridgeport; one nephew, Mitchell J. Poniewasz, III of Atlanta, GA; one aunt, Catherine Malindzak; and cousins, Marilyn Spatafore, Lori Malindzak Jackson, and Ron & John C. Poniewasz.

 

He is also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe & Julie Liptak; paternal grandparents, John and Kathryn Poniewasz; and one brother, Mitchell Poniewasz, II.

 

Tim was a 1965 graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended Fairmont State College.  He formerly worked at the Local Glass Plants with a total of 42 years of service, and retired with United Central Industrial Supply with 15 years of service as a purchasing agent.

 

Tim was a devoted husband, father & son, and was deeply devoted to his Roman Catholic faith at Immaculate Conception Catholic church.  His proudest accomplishment was his devout religious belief in his God.  He will be sadly missed by all who loved him, a much deserved eternal rest in peace.
