Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Mark Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Vera Mae Riffle Shinn, 76, of Nutter Fort, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at United Hospital Center.

 

She was born in Burnsville on July 18, 1941, a daughter of the late Silas and Freda Knight Riffle.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Kimberly Spear and her husband James of Stonewood, Kristina Lucas and her husband Paul of Quiet Dell, and Nannette Lucas and her husband John of Nutter Fort; six grandchildren, Mark Lucas, Tyler Spear and his wife Jenny, Kayla D’Anselmi and her husband Joseph, Jesse Spear and his fiancé Chelsea Rinehart, Justin Lucas and Anna Lucas; and four great grandchildren, Anthony and Lucas D’Anselmi, and Piper and Hadlee Spear.

 

Vera was a 1960 graduate of Doddridge County High School and a 1961 graduate of Scott College of Cosmetology in Wheeling. She was employed as a beautician for several years throughout Clarksburg and also worked for a local orthodontist. She enjoyed crafting, cooking and helping take care of her grandchildren.
