Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

Virgil Harold “Squirmy” Leeson, 89, of Nutter Fort, passed away on Thursday. March 8, 2018 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Clarksburg on July 20, 1928, a son of the late Eli and Flossie Ancell Leeson.

 

He was married to JoAnn Buffey Leeson, who preceded him in death.

 

Surviving are four sons, Larry Joe Leeson of Maryland, Jack Leeson of Clarksburg, Thomas Leeson and his wife Kelly of Clarksburg, and Michael Leeson and his wife Heather of Clarksburg; one step-son, Ricky McDonald of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Leeson and his wife “Pug” of Greenville, SC, Bernard Leeson and his wife Mildred of Greenville, SC, and Robert Leeson and his wife Donna of Summit Park; one sister, Betty Hinzman and her husband Denver of Brushy Fork Road; several nieces and nephews; two former daughters-in-law, Dolly Arbogast and Linda Elsbury; and a special friend, Gus Pettit.

 

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

 

Mr. Leeson was a United States Marine veteran having served in the Korean Was and was a retired inspector with the Department of Agriculture. He was a member of the Meuse Argonne Post No. 573 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Clarksburg Lodge No. 52 Loyal Order of the Moose. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and frequenting flee markets, yard sales and auctions. Mr. Leeson was Baptist by faith.
